1. Who these terms apply to

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Piplet mobile application ("App") and the website at getpiplet.com ("Website"), together the "Service", operated by Kyle ("we", "us", "our").

By downloading the App or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. The Service

Piplet is a local-first memory-keeping app for parents and caregivers. It allows you to capture, organise, and share memories, milestones, and activities related to your children. Key features include photo and voice memory capture, milestone tracking, a first words dictionary, artwork scanning, activity tracking, and the ability to generate and print photo books.

3. Your account

Piplet does not require an account to use the core app. Your data is stored on your device. If you sign up for early access on our website, you create a lightweight relationship with us limited to email communication about the app launch.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and any share links you generate.

4. Your content

You own your content

All photos, voice recordings, text, and other content you add to Piplet belong to you. We claim no ownership over your memories.

Licence to provide the service

Because Piplet is local-first, we do not hold your content on our servers under normal use. When you create a share link, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to host and serve that specific shared content for the purpose of delivering it to recipients you choose, for the duration the link is active. This licence ends when you delete the link.

Your responsibilities

You agree not to use Piplet to store or share content that:

• Is illegal under applicable law
• Infringes the intellectual property rights of others
• Depicts child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — any such use will be reported to relevant authorities
• Harasses, threatens, or defames any person

5. Share links

When you generate a share link, a copy of the selected content is uploaded to our storage infrastructure. You understand that:

• Anyone with the link URL can view the shared content
• You are responsible for who you share the link with
• Links on the free plan expire after 90 days; links on the Family and Legacy plans can be permanent
• We may remove shared content that violates these Terms

6. AI caption rewrite

The optional AI caption rewrite feature sends text to Anthropic's Claude API. By using this feature you agree to Anthropic's terms of service. The text you send is not stored by us. We are not responsible for the output quality of the AI.

7. Print books and third-party services

Piplet enables you to generate a print-ready PDF of a photo book. Printing that book is a transaction between you and the print partner you choose (e.g. Mixbook, MILK Books, or your own chosen printer). We are not party to that transaction and are not responsible for print quality, delivery, or any issues arising from a print order.

Links to print partners on our website may be affiliate links. We receive a commission if you make a purchase via these links. This does not affect the price you pay.

8. Pricing and subscriptions

Piplet is free to download and use. Optional paid plans (Family, Legacy) are available with additional features. Subscriptions are billed through Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) and are subject to their respective billing terms.

We reserve the right to change pricing with reasonable notice. You may cancel your subscription at any time through the App Store or Play Store.

We do not issue refunds for partial subscription periods, except where required by applicable law or App Store policy.

9. Availability and updates

We aim to keep Piplet available and working well, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may update, modify, or discontinue features at any time.

Because your primary data is on your device, a service interruption does not put your memories at risk. We encourage you to export your data regularly.

10. Data portability and deletion

You can export all your data from Piplet at any time, for free, in open formats. This is a permanent commitment — data export will never be paywalled.

Deleting the App from your device will remove all locally stored data. You can delete individual share links from within the app. See our Privacy Policy for more detail.

11. Intellectual property

The Piplet app, website, design, name, and logo are our intellectual property. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from them without our written permission.

You retain all intellectual property rights in the content you create using Piplet.

12. Disclaimer of warranties

Piplet is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or meet your specific requirements.

We strongly recommend regular data exports as a backup measure. We are not responsible for data loss caused by device failure, accidental deletion, or other circumstances outside our control.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claim arising from use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection provisions that may apply in your jurisdiction.

If you are an EU or UK resident, you retain rights under applicable consumer protection law that these Terms do not override.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via an in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance.

If we make changes that materially reduce your rights, you may close your account and stop using the Service without penalty.
